1 Exercise:
The more active you are, the better you will feel and the healthier you will be.Regular exercise helps build a healthy body, burn calories, and improve sleep.
2 Eat Healthily:
Eat natural foods instead of processed foods. Minimize sugar and caffeine intake.Eat bright colored fruits and veggies which are filled with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
3 Drink water:
Drink 8 cups of water daily.Proper hydration keeps us energetic, improve mental function, regulate body temperature, help proper digestion and eliminate toxins.
4 Choose Healthy Snacks:
Eat nuts, seeds, fresh fruits, carrot sticks, yogurt, peanut butter, celery, and whole wheat pretzels. Avoid processed snacks such as chips, cookies, donuts, and ice cream. These will tide you in between meals and not let you overeat at your next meal.
5 Skin protection:
Use a UVA/UVB protection, water-resistant sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or greater. It should be used at all times even during the winter months.
6 Quit Smoking:
Smoking is known to harm health by causing lung disease and is linked with causing many cancers besides lung cancer. Talk to your healthcare provider about options for smoking cessation.
7 Stay Social:
Quality of your social relationship has an effect on your wellbeing. Surround yourself with friends who are supportive and enrich your life.
8 Remember to Take Deep Breaths:
Deep breathing is extremely important for your health. As you feel stress coming on,step away from the situation for just a minute or so to take a couple of deep breathes. This releases stress from your body and you can cope with the situation much easier.
9 Laugh More:
Laughter is a powerful tool that helps release stress, lower blood pressure, boost your immune system and reduce depression. Laughter is truly the best medicine!
10 Have A Regular Downtime:
During your busy work schedule always remember to have some downtime to do your favorite activities or spending time with family and friends. This helps your recharge.
11 Volunteer:
It is a well known fact that helping others makes you happier. There are many causes for which you can volunteer. This helps you feel good about yourself and your purpose in life.
12 Sleep Well:
Adult body needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep in order to regenerate and stay energetic. Children need even more sleep. Benefits of good sleep are numerous including lower stress, improved memory and living longer.
13 Enjoy the Present:
Past cannot be changed and the future is unknown. It’s best to enjoy every moment of the present. The present moment is really all you have! Embrace it!
14 Mental Hygiene:
Meditation is very beneficial and should be practised regularly. Just 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes before bedtime sit still in silence. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Count each breath. If you find yourself drifting off into thoughts/thinking then bring yourself back and start the counting over. A calm mind leads to a healthier you!
15 Try to unplug:
We spend a large amount of our time on phones, emails and social media. Scientific studies have shown the importance of unplugging. It helps us rest and recharge. Commit a day or more regularly to stay technology-free and utilize that time to be with family, friends or nature.
